For ice skating fans, it’s no longer necessary to wait for a local pond to freeze over. Here are some of the best places to ice skate in Delaware County, writes Cierra Williams and Micah Zimmerman for Philadelphia Magazine.
Flight on Ice at 4894 West Chester Pike is in Newtown Square for another year. The outdoor rink has heated tents, light bites and drinks, and festive pop-ups.
Premier Orthopaedics IceWorks at 3100 Dutton Mill Road in Aston offers public skating hours every day.
This large indoor rink also has a restaurant.
Cost is $12 to $15 for adults, with children four and under skating for free.
Skate rentals are $3, except on Wednesdays, when the skates are free.
The Skatium at 1018 Darby Road in Havertown has been offering public skating since it opened in 1974.
The indoor rink posts public skating hours weekly. Skating price is $8 for adults, $6 for children six and under, and a skate rental fee of $2.
Springfield Ice Skating Rink at 400 West Sproul Road in Springfield offers limited public skating hours from 8 to 9:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and from 2 to 3:30 PM on Sundays.
Admission is $8, with skate rentals an additional $2.
